WHAT are food and food chemical sensitivities?
Sensitivities to foods and food chemicals cause an inflammatory response as well as various painful symptoms and health issues. There is a common misconception that all healthy foods are beneficial for us- that if we are eating all the right fruits, veggies, etc, we're doing our bodies a solid. However, this isn't necessarily true. The "bad," processed foods aren't the only offenders. People can have sensitivities to all kinds of foods, including those that we would typically give the "healthy" stamp of approval. Also, different chemicals one may be sensitive to can occur naturally in fruits, veggies, meats, etc. How do you know if you have food and chemical sensitivities? The most effective and certain way to determine whether you have food and chemical sensitivities is to look into food and chemical sensitivity testing.
People often turn to medication to take care of various unwanted health conditions and uncomfortable symptoms- whatever they may be. By "treating" individual symptoms with prescription medications, you simply mask or put your symptoms into remission. Furthermore, we all know that prescription drugs come with a long list of additional side effects, health warnings, and potential risks if used long-term. You cannot cure an illness or get at the root cause of your symptoms by masking them. By pinpointing the root cause of all your symptoms, you're able to eliminate the problem(s) entirely through an elimination diet, which allows your body to heal. If you're a sensitive bitch like me, various foods and chemicals may be your root cause. We all have sensitivities. The number of sensitivities and the severity of those sensitivities varies from person to person. Yes, we are all sensitively unique. :)

If you're Sensitive and you know it clap your hands...[Insert clapping here.] You might be thinking, "why the hell would I want to clap about something like this?" I'll tell you why. For many of us who have gone years without any answers or explanations as to why we continue to be so symptomatic no matter what we put in or on our bodies, it's quite the relief to finally learn that all our symptoms stem from one root cause. While the words, "you have several sensitivities" is the most complex and life-changing explanation I would ever get out of any professional, it gives me the power to grab my life by the reins and heal.
