Your deodorant that claims to give you long-lasting freshness does just that. Well, almost. More like long-lasting toxicity. Most deodorants will list aluminum zirconium or some type of aluminum ingredient as the active ingredient. Excessive use of products containing aluminum can lead to accumulation of this poisonous neurotoxin in your body. Aluminum is known to mimic estrogen, as it has estrogen-like properties. For this reason, aluminum has been linked to breast cancer. In one research study, breast tissue was taken from 17 breast cancer patients. The tissue located nearest to where antiperspirant would be applied, contained higher levels of aluminum (Pendent). Other research has shown that Alzheimer's disease is linked to excessive exposure to aluminum. Abnormal amounts of aluminum have been found in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. Furthermore, lab animals have developed a neurological disease much like Alzheimer's when given a brain injection of aluminum (Achooallergy.com). The thought of this makes me shutter, by the way.
